When my boy was a baby, I dressed him up and placed him inside a faux pumpkin for a photoshoot. He was less than enthused. But the experience reminded me of the joyful anticipation I used to feel when the weather grew colder and the leaves changed.

Over the years, I’ve watched my family discover the magic of our New England seasons. Now, the same little boy who grumpily endured his mother’s craziness delights in choosing pumpkins of his own. His brother and sister marvel at our holiday lights and the tickle of pine needles on our Christmas Tree. I feel the warmth of the season because I see it through their eyes.
